Tips on Adsense and other Advertising Programs Pt.1

July 3, 2006 – 4:34 pm | by J. Rodriguez

adsenseWhen it comes to advertising and ppc programs, I am the type of person that evaluates and discover things on my own. When it comes to Adsense, YPN!, Bidvertiser and or Clicksor I am one to believe that content is key when it comes to these programs.

I have been using Adsense and YPN! since day one, and I have seen my ups-and-downs with them both. When your start a program of either two you really need to stay in track of your clicks and placements. Its very important for you to find “Hot Spots” for your ads, so I’d suggest you get an account with google analytics and monitor your statistics daily.

Don’t click your own ads, Please tell your friends not to full around with the ads either - It might be an obvious way to get a few click throughs and increase your revenue - but Google/Yahoo are very clever at working out if your clicks are genuine or not. Its not hard to track IP addresses and to see patterns emerging between where clicks are coming from. It is not worth the risk of being banned from the program for a few cents per click. Especially don’t click ads from the same IP address that you check your stats from - this is certainly a way of looking for trouble!

Should I put AdSense on all of my pages? If only a small number of pages on your site are displaying Google ads, try placing the AdSense code on more pages, especially those rich in text-based content. AdSense can be effective on many different types of pages, whether they contain product descriptions, forums, or news articles. Increasing ad exposure helps add variety across your site and offers users more selection, which in turn can improve your site’s performance as an advertising vehicle .

I looked at Google, YPN and Clickbank. I wasn’t too impressed with any of them. If I had to choose, I would go with Clickbank. My clients invest too much time and money to build their websites to deal with Google who seems to always be suffering from PMS. You never know which way Google is going to turn next.

Instead of earning a few pennies here and there from Google. I recommend that my clients start out with something simple such as Clickbank and earn a few hundred dollars a month. Once they’re earning at least $250/mo then move to purchasing master rights or creating your own products and selling them. Makes much more sense to earn $25 or more for products sold than a few pennies here and there from the psychologically unbalanced Google.

Just too much effort too little reward, in my opinon. As a graphic designer who creates website graphics and depends upon repeat business from my clients I recommend they leave temperamental Google to those who have lots of time on their hands. Business is booming for my small graphic design business.
