Your vision is not broken… Day 3 & 4 – Jay Rodriguez 90Day B&W Photo Project.
January 4, 2012 – 11:47 pm | by J. RodriguezWhen you get in this craft there will be many obstacles you’ll need to get up, over and around from. It takes time to understand and develop and style when shooting pictures. Time and time again when your just snapping away you will waste tons of energy not getting the shot, this is part of the challenge. Think of it as an exercise and you build you way and opening the doors to your creativity. Never sit there and think that you have no vision, no talent and your just wasting time in just doing nothing.
Its not just about vision or talent, I’ve learned that the hard way. It also involves communicating, having a open and free mind and time… Time is precious when you want to make a picture with meaning.
Day four (4) right after 3… They say its not always about gear… well, that’s partially the truth!
Day in and day out over the internet you’ll constantly hear “Good gear is better” or “It’s not always about the gear” and “The best gear helps you make better pictures”. Well, in my opinion all of it is partially true.
- Good gear is better – Yes, good gear is better when your getting serious about photography. The better the gear the more knowledge you’ll embed in your brain on handling gear. Also, better gear lasts longer over the years and better photography gear takes a bigger beating while you on the job.
- It’s not always about the gear – Yes, once again, partially true. depending on what kind of photography your into the. Once you take on this craft and jump more and more complicated jobs with bigger budgets, you’ll bump into challenges that need to get resolved right there right now! Always having the right gear for your paid or non-paid photography projects is always important. I mean, you choose to do this as a career right!
- Better gear helps you make better pictures – True, True and always True!
If this weren’t true we would still be shooting film! Imagine learning photography in those days!
Some of you may not agree to many of my posts during my 90 day Black & White photography venture, some of you will agree to a certain level. These posts are written everyday to help inspire. Give you a different approach at things, and not to be bias on photography tools and techniques. We all start from the ground up. A point-n-shoot, a camera phone or your simply just taking pictures and want non-bias answer to things. As my venture goes on I will be posting more and more interesting subjects, images and sharing insight of things on how I look at it from my point of view. If you have crits or comments please share them. Everyone is free to share their visual thoughts!
