Jay Rodriguez Profile Shot Using the Fotodog Technique
February 25, 2009 – 10:32 am | by J. RodriguezI finally found some time to try out the Fotodog Technique from his previous Post “When Light and Right Come Together” … I did some minor adjustments and decided to go with my off camera Canon 580EXii and shoot remotely from the bottom up. I came out with several results but liked this one alot!
Here are the spec’s on the shot
• My Canon XTi on a tripod
• F22
• 1/200
• Remote Canon 580EXii (no snoot)
No much editing in Photoshop, just a small crop and a little color balance adjustment!

I found this technique to be pretty interesting consider that you can point the lighting in many different directions and get really cool results.
My hat is off to Fotodog for bringing this style shot to our attention… Now I have another new lighting technique to mess around with.
I encourage you to try out the technique with various setting and come here to show off your results. Have fun
