MySpace Eyes International Expansion

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

MyspacelogoMySpace, the ultra popular & ultra controversial social networking site owned by News Corp’s Fox Interactive Group, is looking to expand its US success into the European Union and Asia with the hiring of David Fischer as its UK and European Managing Director.Along the lineup of highly targeted countries by MySpace include France, Germany and possibly India, expanding MySpace into Central Asia.
MySpace, a bit of a shake & mix between Google, YouTube, Friendster, Yahoo Mail and Match.com (without the fee), still seems to be growing in terms of popularity here in the United States and has become an intricate part of Fox Television and the FX Network’s online marketing and TV to net integrated marketing.

With nearly 100 million registered users and growing at a rate of around 250,000 new members a day, MySpace has grown beyond its music fanbase and teenage roots to the essential online profile, meeting and hangout spot. MySpace has become The Place to keep up with your friends online.

Nikon Capture NX: Nikon’s Answer to Photoshop

Monday, June 19th, 2006

Ever wonder what an image-editing program would be like if Adobe Photoshop had never existed?

The new Nikon Capture NX software is probably the closest thing. A co-project of Nikon and the similarly named (but unrelated) Nik Software company, this program uses what they’re calling U Point technology to allow you to make quick adjustments to the zones of influence you choose. That means you can saturate certain areas, desaturate others, and color-correct in the places that need it, all without painstakingly selecting them. The other good news: None of these changes are permanent. They all happen as a list of deletable and modifiable steps that leave your original alone.

Nikon shooters who love RAW may be the most pleased with the $150 program ($90 for the upgrade), because their RAW adjustments are built into the process. Everyone else can import TIFFs or JPEGs, but won’t be able to work on RAW files. (No, it doesn’t work on Adobe DNG.) Other useful features are built in: A file browser pops up on the left; you can soft-proof at will from a menu at the bottom of the image; and the histogram, if you like to use one, sits on the bottom right corner.

Layers Tip of the Day - The Control palette Accounts for Stroke Thickness.

Layers magazine Tip of the Day

Adobe InDesign CS2 Tip – The Control palette Accounts for Stroke Thickness.
Usually I like a “bold” look but not the unintentional kind that you get when type is wrapping around an object with a Drop Shadow. Whether you’ve seen this problem in a proof or not, here’s how it happens and how to avoid it. When an object with a Drop Shadow is stacked on top of type, the glyphs (characters) that come in contact with this Transparent Effect will be Rasterized or Outlined in the Flattening process. This makes the affected text bolder than the unaffected text. To avoid this issue, simple move the Text Frame above the Transparent object that’s causing the problem (Object > Arrange > Bring Front). Or create a separate Layer for type that’s the top Layer in the Layers palette.

First let me apologize if you recieved any emails earlier today and the link directed you to an un-known zone. I was currently switching from Blogger to Wordpress for more conviniences. I comes to be that WP is a more stable application and the best thing about it is that I can host it myself. Unlike blogger, I still have to go into their login menu and do my thing.

Don’t get me wrong, blogger is a good program/blog…but not for me. I want it ready when I want it. So that is why I decided to host my blog myself.
Thanks for registering and signing up for the updates :)

Bill Gates Reboots - Retirement means good news!BILL GATES’ ANNOUNCEMENT on Thursday that he was phasing himself out of Microsoft’s day-to-day operations drew the predictable round of cheers from Microsoft bashers, of which there is no shortage.
